clay sculptures
I am practicing moving towards the things that viscerally move me.
My grandmother from my dad's side, lived up in the mountains in Kalamata, Greece and she braided her hair every morning. I always saw her daily routine as a small mountain ritual. Later, she would go cut walnuts from her tree, take a little walk and sing by the river, and then she would go speak to her geraniums.
I believe there is a special energy in performing a personal ritual every day. Through my clay work, which is a small ritual for me, I celebrate all little things.
I often make women with braided hair to honor the strong women of the mountains. Some other times, I make just a pinchbowl and I think that's ok.
Send me an email to discuss ideas, commissions or to say hello!
